Contractor AI Office
vs Buildertrend

Built for custom home building. If that’s you, this isn’t your page.

If you’re a custom home builder, buy Buildertrend

Buildertrend is built for new-construction and custom home building — client selections, draw schedules, long project timelines, a homeowner portal running for eighteen months. It's used on a very large share of new home builds in the US and for that work it's a serious product.

We're built for contractors running high-volume trade work — roofing, exteriors, service and restoration — where the job is measured in days and the constraint is throughput.

Every claim in the Buildertrend column comes from their own published pages or public reviews. Where we could not verify something, the cell says so rather than guessing.

The difference a roadmap can't close

Two things worth knowing before you sign.

Their price isn't published. Buildertrend's own pricing page says pricing is "tailored to meet the unique needs of your business." Ours is $997 a month, on the site, the same for everyone — and self-implementation is free.

The structural point, rather than a complaint. On an annual contract with unpublished pricing, your renewal price is set by the vendor and you find out at renewal. That is true of most software in this industry and it is not unique to Buildertrend — it is what annual terms are for. One public review from a long-standing customer describes a "75% price increase" at renewal; we cite it as one customer's account, not as a pattern we have measured.

Month to month removes the mechanism rather than the intention. If we ever raised your price you would see it the following month and you could leave the month after.

We put the opposite in writing: the price you sign at is the price. If our pricing changes, existing customers stay where they are.

Migration

If you decide to move, here's what's involved.

Check your contract first. If you're on an annual term there will be notice requirements — read them before you plan anything, and don't let anyone rush you past them.

We'll do the migration at no charge. Customers, jobs, estimates, photos and history come across. Custom fields and some configuration need rebuilding — we'll tell you which before you commit, not after.

This is the same advice we'd give you if you were moving to somebody else entirely.

If anything on this page is wrong, tell us. Email office@contractoraioffice.com — including if you work there. We verify and correct within 24 hours and note the change publicly at the bottom of the page. We'd rather be corrected in public than right in private.
